AntennaWare is a Northern Ireland-based technology company pioneering BodyWave antenna technology -- a unique approach to body-centric wireless communication. We're looking for a Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to work closely with our customers and partners, accelerating the integration of our innovative antenna technologies into their products. This is a hands-on, customer-facing engineering role that combines deep technical knowledge with practical problem-solving and strong communication skills.
Role Overview
As a FAE, you'll be the key technical interface between AntennaWare and our customers. You'll support customers through the full integration process -- from early design and proof-of-concept to production -- ensuring optimal antenna performance in their products.
This role combines technical expertise, practical problem-solving, and customer engagement, with opportunities to work across a wide variety of wireless technologies and products.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with both sales and customers to integrate our antenna technologies into their products and systems.
Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and design recommendations throughout development.
Perform antenna evaluations, system tuning, and performance optimization.
Work with a wide range of wireless technologies (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, UWB, DECT, UHF radio and more).
Develop and maintain embedded software for testing and demo platforms.
Support sales and engineering teams with technical documentation, presentations, and customer meetings.
Conduct on-site visits and technical training, including occasional travel to customer sites, trade shows, exhibitions and industry events.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Right to work in the UK.
Strong practical understanding of RF principles and antenna integration.
Experience with RF testing equipment (VNA, spectrum analyser, signal generator, etc).
Experience working with multiple radio technologies (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular, UWB).
Proficient in embedded programming (C/C++, etc).
Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for both hardware and firmware.
Strong communication and customer-facing abilities.
Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Desirable Skills
Experience in antenna design on difficult platforms.
Antenna impedance matching
Proficiency with CST Microwave Studio or other for antenna design and simulation.
Hands on experience using a range of wireless SoC.
Experience implementing positioning/localisation technologies.
Experience with Python or MATLAB for simulation post-processing or optimisation.
Familiarity with
IoT product development
or
wearable devices
.
Understanding of
compliance testing
and
wireless certification
processes.
Ability to prepare and deliver
technical presentations
and reports.
Previous experience in a
FAE or applications support
role.
