About the Role
We're looking for experienced
Field Engineers
to support a critical telecommunications project across the Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN) estate. This role involves delivering provide and assure activities across utility telecoms networks, working in high-voltage environments, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
You'll be expected to cover the central belt of Scotland, travelling daily to SPEN sites. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided for business use.
Key Responsibilities
Installation, commissioning, and assurance of telecoms equipment (Commtel/SDH/PDH/Radio/Xtran).
Maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of IP, WAN, LAN, and MPLS networks.
Provide 1st line support on a 24/7/365 basis, adhering to SLA targets.
Support project delivery, ensuring compliance with quality, health & safety, and documentation standards.
Liaise with stakeholders, providing timely updates and reporting.
Participate in on-call rota (currently 1 week in 7, moving to a 4-on/4-off model).
Skills & Experience
Essential:
Proven track record in telecoms field engineering (installation & commissioning).
Strong knowledge of routing, switching, and IP networking.
Experience supporting DC Charger, PDH, SDH, Commtel, Microwave radio technologies.
Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Teams).
Full UK Driving Licence.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable (training can be provided):
Scottish Power authorisations.
National Grid authorisations.
NRSWA / EUSR.
IOSH / Emergency First Aid.
DC/AC competency certification.
Previous experience in substations (11kV - 400kV).
