Our Local Generation site is a state-of-the-art Anaerobic Digestion Facility based on the outskirts of March, Cambridgeshire. Commissioned in 2011 the business produces renewable energy from a combination of food wastes and can produce 12.2MW energy generation.

Overall Purpose of the Role:
The Engineering Team are responsible for the maintenance and repair of all AD Food Waste machinery, process equipment, buildings and site civils. They are responsible for carrying out a proactive engineering approach to improve machinery efficiency and effectiveness through a planned programme of preventative works to the Food Waste AD sites. They are also charged with monitoring the performance of the AD process by interpreting data from SCADA, e.g., Methane/H2S content, tank foaming, etc., and taking the necessary action.
The individual working within the team of engineers need to ensure:
Adherence to safe working practices
Timely response to breakdowns
High quality of maintenance and repair
A proactive approach to improving machinery efficiency and effectiveness
Out of hours engineering support (inclusive of weekends) which is detailed in the specific site call-out rota
Each AD site will be manned with three Engineers - the Field Engineer will be assigned to a site and will be deployed to assist in planned activities to any of the Food Waste AD facilities in group through a planned programme of works. The Field Engineer will be expected to cover typically 1 in 4 for out of hours engineering support in a call out rota for emergency action only triggered by Plant Supervisor remote monitoring.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Install, maintain, and enhance engineering systems and components in accordance with project and site requirements and specifications.
Inspect, test, and diagnose issues with site systems and components. Log any defects or follow up work required on company engineering software system.
Perform all work in a manner that meets mechanical / electrical specifications, blueprints and standards.
Ensure adequate inventory of necessary supplies and parts, required for tasks assigned.
Perform preventative maintenance assigned on mechanical / electrical systems and components in accordance with planned works schedule and keep accurate records including any corrective or follow up actions on engineering software system.
Reaction to breakdowns ensuring quickest possible response and rectification with follow up of records being updated on engineering software system; timely and with accuracy.
Requirement of trouble shooting engineering methodology and attitude, with proactive root cause analysis and rectification
Assisting the Head of Engineering with scheduling and organisation of maintenance and improvement works
Liaising with suppliers to source critical parts, and ordering in line with company authorisations on spend
Ensure stock levels are maintained to a reasonable economic level; that common failure parts are available by identifying spares required with upcoming issues being identified to the Head of Engineering
Supervise contractors on Food Waste AD sites, ensuring safe systems of work are followed and responsibility of PTW are managed in accordance with company policy
Completion of project work assigned by Head of Engineering/Project Manager at any of the Group Food Waste AD sites

Individual competency & role requirements
Technical expertise;
At least level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma in Engineering Maintenance or equivalent
Strong knowledge with diagnostic tools and equipment
Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints
Experience of use of industry specific software (AutoCAD, Scada, Shire) desirable
Experience in AD, waste water or similar industry
High level of computer literacy - proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, Sharepoint)
IOSH/NEBOSH certificate desirable
Problem solving and analytical thinking;
Ability to identify and resolve complex issues independently
Ability to carry out root cause analysis with corrective action planning

Clear reporting to all stakeholders and timely and accurate input to engineering software system

Flexibility to work typically 1 in 4 call out rota for emergency engineering remediation to site assigned to
Willingness to work longer hours, weekends, travel to different sites regularly - with ability to claim TOIL
Valid drivers licence and ability to travel
Working hours typically 42 hours Monday to Friday, with flexibility for on-call duties to cover evenings and weekends as per the on-call rota (1 week in 4).
Starting salary at 50,000 to increase to 55,000 upon completion of a successful probationary period. The role comes with a company car option OR car allowance option, to be discussed at offer stage.
