Looking for a fresh challenge?! Due to exciting new utility company contracts and expansion of our own fleet of generators, we are looking for an experienced mechanically-trained and / or electrically-trained Field-based Generator Service Engineer to join our service / installation teams.
Mainly field-based, and reporting to our Ayrshire office, you will be carrying out planned servicing, repairs and breakdown response work at our customer's sites, as well as our own site from time to time. Most of your work will be in Scotland however you may occasionally also be working throughout the UK, on generators from 3kVA - 3000kVA.
Your duties will include the following:
Perform preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, testing, repairs and topping-up of all fuel/oils/lubricants on generators, control systems and related equipment
Conduct load bank testing, site surveys and inspections on critical power systems
Assist in the installation and commissioning of various critical power equipment
Install temporary/hire equipment, including generator sets and fuel tanks on customer sites
Provide emergency breakdown cover as part of our on-call rota system (1 day per week plus one weekend in 5 or 6)
Completing all required records accurately and on time
Plan, assign, schedule and oversee the onsite work, ensuring the highest standards of health & safety and customer service
You will have:
Served a recognised and relevant apprenticeship
Strong knowledge of all mechanical and / or electrical aspects of generators
First class customer facing skills
Good communication skills
Relevant experience in a similar role
