About the Role
We are looking for a dependable and practically minded
Overhead Crane / Lifting Gear Engineer
with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude. While previous industry experience is beneficial, it is
not essential
, as full training will be provided for the right individual.
This is a
field-based position
, typically working within a 50-mile radius of Burton-on-Trent. The role involves carrying out inspections, servicing and minor repairs on overhead cranes and lifting equipment in alignment with LOLER regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair basic electrical issues on overhead crane systems
Perform mechanical maintenance, including replacing load ropes and rope guides
Conduct LOLER-compliant inspections and functional testing of lifting equipment
Assist fellow engineers both on-site and in the company workshop when required
Accurately complete inspection reports, service documents and related paperwork
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
Practical mindset and willingness to learn
Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical principles
Good communication and problem-solving abilities
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
Experience with overhead cranes, lifting equipment, or LOLER inspections
Background in engineering, maintenance, or similar technical work
Training & Development
Full on-the-job training provided
LOLER competency training and certification
