About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, practically minded Engineer with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude to work on overhead cranes and lifting gear. Prior industry experience is advantageous but not essential--full training will be provided for the right candidate.
This field-based role covers a typical 50-mile radius from Burton-on-Trent and involves conducting inspections, servicing and minor repairs on overhead cranes and lifting equipment in accordance with LOLER requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair basic electrical faults on overhead crane systems
Carry out mechanical maintenance, including load rope and rope guide replacements
Conduct LOLER-compliant inspections and functional testing of lifting equipment
Support fellow engineers both on-site and within the workshop when needed
Complete inspection reports, service sheets and related documentation accurately
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
Practical, hands-on mindset with a willingness to learn
Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical concepts
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
Experience with overhead cranes, lifting gear, or LOLER inspections
Background in engineering, maintenance, or similar technical roles
Training & Development
