With this role you can spend your days teaching outdoors in field studies sites, instead of being stuck in a classroom!



Fixed term contract until 31 October 2026 in the first instance Full-time - average 37.5 hours per week. Weekly hours will vary across the year, with more during busy periods and fewer in quieter weeks.

Circa 27,350 per annum + excellent benefits

What you'll be doing




This role will see you working with primary and secondary schools, colleges, and universities to deliver curriculum-linked activities that will increase students understanding of nature and the environment.


Your day to day will include developing, planning, and delivering courses in outdoor teaching sites to students on science and geography school trips. This will involve leading groups of all abilities in the local environment, ensuring you always have the health and safety of the group in mind.


When you are not working in the field, you will also be happy to contribute to other aspects of working in a busy education centre. This is a very active role, some weeks will be long and tiring, but our tutors find this work very rewarding, and we promise you will too!

Where you'll be based



Your base location will be Field Studies Council Bishops Wood which is situated in Worcestershire close to the River Severn and Wyre Forest and is a short drive from the M5.


It is surrounded by stunning ancient woodland and has a unique and sustainable centre building. The grounds are also home to a large pond and several outdoor learning areas with natural wood and willow sculptures.


This role will require regular travel to our learning locations in Birmingham to deliver our Urban Geography courses and learning activities in Birmingham Parks. We offer a range of courses across the city, using inspiring field sites. Working at different locations within Birmingham allows our courses to suit a broad variety of educational needs.

Who we're looking for



You will have a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject and some previous experience of teaching or tutoring. You will also be confident with producing and preparing various learning resources. In addition, you will have:
