You will work closely with the
director
and the wider team, taking ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping and ensuring accounts are accurate, methodical, and fully prepared for month-end.
Essential requirement - Sage 50 Accounts
Strong, hands-on experience using Sage 50 Accounts is essential.
We are unable to provide training in Sage 50, therefore
candidates with cloud-only bookkeeping experience (e.g. Xero or QuickBooks only) will not be suitable
. Sage 50 experience will be discussed in detail at interview.
Daily & ongoing tasks
Using our
CRM system to digitally import orders into Sage 50
(No manual invoice input - all order processing is digital)
Processing
sales invoices and costings
, posting to the correct nominal codes
Printing
packing lists
for the warehouse dispatch team
Taking and allocating
customer payments
Posting and performing
bank reconciliations
Investigating and resolving
internal and external account queries
Identifying overdue invoices and
contacting customers by phone, email, and letter
Fielding internal accounts-related calls and redirecting where appropriate
Reviewing
sales and purchase ledger balances
Checking
control accounts
and investigating discrepancies
Month-end responsibilities
Preparing
end-of-month accounts
so everything is fully reconciled and ready for the external accountant
Ensuring each new month starts with
clean, accurate ledgers
Supporting VAT preparation
, ensuring transactions are correctly coded and information is ready for submission
Posting
payroll journals
into Sage 50
Reconciling
PAYE and NI control accounts
This role does not include preparation of statutory or management accounts.

Fully experienced
bookkeeper
with real-world business experience
Strong, confident Sage 50 Accounts user

Minimum
Level 3 bookkeeping qualification
(Level 4 preferred), or qualified by experience
