The Recipe

To ensure Centre Banking, Expenses and other Accounting processes are completed accurately, in line with accounting procedures and in a timely manner.

Key Accountabilities and Measures

To ensure banking transactions payments are made accurately and in a timely manner. Preparation of weekly and period end journals and performing routine tasks during the financial period Reconciliation of the Period End Balance Sheet Accounts and leading investigation of differences. Completion of Office for National Statistics and other regulatory returns. Provision of information to government and regulatory bodies when requested. Preparation of the VAT return and maintenance of the VAT ledgers To understand the current expenses system and continue to improve the efficiency of the process. To provide excellent customers service to internal and external customers. To support the Finance Manager and Management Accountant on ad hoc duties associated with the role and changing requirements of the business.

Essential Ingredients

GCSEs in Maths & English, Grade A - C or equivalent Demonstrates a willingness to learn and develop Finance and Accounting skills. Willing to commit to learning on the job and travel to college to complete AAT apprenticeship Proficient in excel, word and PowerPoint and good general IT skills Provides customer service to a high standard Good problem-solving skills Ability to work within a team to help deliver objectives Confident telephone manner and good negotiation/communication skills to be able to develop positive working relationships with internal and external customers/departments. Ability to work in an organised manner and manage own time to achieve tight deadlines on a regular basis (weekly and monthly).
