Your New Role:


This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and detail-oriented individual to begin a career in finance as a Finance Apprentice. You will gain hands-on experience within a busy finance team while working towards a nationally recognised qualification. With full training, mentoring, and ongoing support, you will build strong foundational finance skills with a clear progression pathway to a Finance Assistant role.

You will support the day-to-day operations of the finance department, developing experience in bookkeeping, banking, billing, and credit control within a fast-paced professional services environment.

What You'll be Doing:



Monitor and manage the shared Accounts email inbox, responding to queries and escalating where appropriate. Set up client and office account payments in the Bankline system. Accurately process high volumes of financial transactions within our case management system and Xero accounting software. Assist with interim and search fee billing, ensuring all relevant spreadsheets are updated correctly. Support the Legal Cashiers with day-to-day financial operations and ad hoc finance tasks. Assist with bookkeeping entries, including posting journals and maintaining accurate financial records. Perform daily bank reconciliations as allocated, investigating and resolving discrepancies. Support the Credit Control function, including chasing outstanding payments where required. Respond to Fee Earner (Conveyancing Executive) and client ledger queries in a professional and timely manner. Maintain accurate financial records in line with internal controls and regulatory requirements. Provide general administrative support to the Finance Team as required. Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Finance Manager in line with the role. Support with any other duties necessary with the level of responsibility of this role as needed.

What You'll Bring:



We are looking for a motivated individual who is eager to begin their career in finance and committed to developing their skills through an apprenticeship programme. The successful candidate will demonstrate:

GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English as a minimum requirement. A genuine interest in pursuing a career in finance, with a strong willingness to learn and develop new skills. Some previous experience within a finance or office-based environment (desirable but not essential). A basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with the ability to learn new systems quickly. Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when working with numbers and data. A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a reliable and proactive approach to work. The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills and a professional manner with an excellent telephone manner.

Training to be provided:



You will complete Level 2 Finance Assistant Apprenticeship, including the AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting. The apprenticeship includes structured off-the-job training alongside practical workplace learning. You will develop key finance knowledge, technical skills, and professional behaviours. The typical duration of the apprenticeship is 16 months.
