Job Summary



The purpose of the Finance Assistant role is to provide administrative and finance support in the Finance Department to ensure accurate reporting, polices and procedures are adhered to, systems are used effectively, and transactions processed accurately and on time. In addition, the Finance Assistant will provide support to the Finance Director with administrative tasks to ensure that Finance projects proceed according to plan. This role reports to the Finance Business Partner and the role holder must be numerate, organised and able to communicate effectively with other team members, fee earners and wider stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities



Support the Financial Controller and Finance Business Partners with preparation of reports such as department manager packs and management accounts, financial analysis, and reconciliations, as required Prepare reports and analysis for our Net Zero reporting requirements Co-ordinating the monthly WIP valuation process by communicating with fee earners to ensure valuations are provided on a timely basis, accurate monthly WIP reports are finalised and journal posted in line with documented procedure notes. Implement instructions from fee earners to improve WIP accuracy, such as write offs, transfers, etc. Review unbilled costs report to identify where process has not been followed in billing before fees are paid. Work with FBP and fee earners to provide billing or education support where possible until this is reduced to an acceptable level and includes only ringfenced costs. Provide monthly update to managing partner. Support the FBP with delivery of the WIP process improvement plan to ensure improved engagement, data accuracy and reduction in manual intervention. Support Accounts Payable and Billing teams as and when needed Support the Finance Director on specified projects with administrative and finance tasks as needed

Required Competencies



Accounting background/understanding Excellent numeracy skills and confidence in working with numbers Good communication skills with the ability to liaise and work well with staff at all levels throughout the firm Excellent attention to detail and comfortable working with large volumes of data The ability to demonstrate common sense and a methodical approach Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel and Outlook Act professionally and be a representative of the department and firm Problem solving and time management skills Enthusiasm, commitment and flexibility to learn new skills This role is predominantly office based
