Finance Assistant, Fees Ledger



The Abbey School is an independent girls' school with currently around 850 students aged 3 to 18. The Finance Assistant is primarily responsible for producing school fee invoices, collecting payments from parents, and maintaining the cash book.

Key responsibilities



Preparing fee bills, processing of all charges and discounts to student accounts Credit control, chasing payment as necessary Daily management and recording of all bank account transactions Monthly closing and reporting of fees ledger and bank and associated income and expenditure accounts Petty Cash management and recording Banking functions Dealing with and responding to queries from parents, staff, and students Various purchasing cycle related duties Assisting the Finance Director with monthly and year end analyses and reports, including those for audit purposes Work as part of the Finance Team to provide efficient support and assistance as required and deal with ad hoc tasks as requested by the Finance Director or the Head of Finance and Resources

Qualifications



A financial qualification, or studying towards one e.g. AAT, is desirable Previous experience in a school finance office is desirable Digital literacy is essential - all transactions and records are electronic, this includes proficiency in the use of spreadsheets, good experience in accounting packages, ideally iFinance and ParentPay

This role is offered on a full-time basis, all year round, commencing in October 2025 (reduced hours over 5 days may be considered).
