At Sheffield Forgemasters we have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant to join our team on a 9 months fixed term contract.


This role is based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield. Our Finance department plays a crucial role in ensuring the organisation's financial health, operational efficiency, and strategic growth. Covering everything from day-to-day financial operations to long-term financial planning & analysis, and including the delivery of our recapitalisation programme.


As a Finance Assistant, you will primarily be involved in supporting the finance function in accounts payable activities with some accounts receivable, purchase ledger and sales ledger duties.

What you'll be doing

Processing invoices. Handling internal and external queries. Supplier reconciliations. Assisting with sales ledger duties. Supporting the AP / AR Manager and the wider finance team where required.

About You

Accounts payable experience. Experienced of invoice processing. Knowledge of GRNI reconciliation is an advantage. Excellent Excel skills. Able to prioritise and manage heavy workloads. Confident communicator. Have the ability to identify improvement opportunities to existing processes.

The Working Pattern

This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday. We offer flexibility in our start and finish times between 06:15 - 09:30 and 14:30 - 18:00.

Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check. Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. People working with government / MOD assets must complete Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks.

These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 - 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
