As we scale our operations, we are looking to expand our finance function with a dedicated and driven Part-Time Finance Assistant based in our Slough office.
Role Overview
The Finance Assistant will support the Finance Manager in the day-to-day operations of the finance department. This includes transaction processing, monitoring cashflow, managing budgets, and helping prepare financial statements. The role is suited to someone highly organised, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced commercial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Cashflow Management:
o Continuous monitoring of cashflow and working capital
o Assist with financial forecasting and liquidity tracking
Invoicing & Accounts Payable/Receivable:
o Process incoming and outgoing invoices
o Ensure accuracy of invoice data and timely payments
o Raise and distribute customer invoices
o Manage and track invoice queries and resolutions
Debt & Credit Control:
o Debt collection follow-ups with clients and reporting
o Maintain accurate debtor and creditor ledgers
o Support with aged debt reviews and recovery strategies
Financial Planning & Reporting:
o Support Finance Manager with budgeting and forecasting
o Analyse historical data (last 3 years) to support annual budget preparation
o Assist in preparing and presenting monthly financial statements
o Prepare and maintain cost efficiency analysis
o Review and help improve financial systems and processes
Payroll & Expenses:
o Update and maintain internal wages spreadsheet
o Review, verify, and approve wages in collaboration with management
o Manage and review employee expense claims
Finance System Oversight:
o Support and manage financial records within Odoo ERP
o Assist with reviewing and updating finance-related modules in Odoo
o Manage CRM input related to sales and finance team enquiries
Compliance & Admin:
o Ensure compliance with industry financial regulations and internal policies
o Support finance audits, reconciliations, and reporting requirements
o Respond to internal and external email queries related to finance and accounts
Ideal Candidate Profile
Essential:
2+ years' experience in a finance, accounts, or bookkeeping role
Proficient with cloud accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, or Odoo ERP)
Comfortable with spreadsheets, reconciliations, and debt reporting
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Confident communicator with a proactive mindset
Strong numeracy and analytical ability
Good knowledge of finance regulations and commercial finance operations
Desirable:
AAT Level 3 or above (or working towards qualification)
Experience within FM, Construction, or Property Management sectors
Prior involvement in budgeting and financial analysis projects
Working knowledge of CIS and industry payroll systems
