Finance Controller



Belfast BT1 - Hybrid working.





We are an ambitious technology business, and we are excited to be adding a Finance Controller to our leadership team. Reporting to the Managing Director, this brand new role will play a key part in shaping our financial strategy and supporting our next phase of growth.

Overview of the Role





As the Finance Controller you will provide strategic leadership along with hands-on management across all financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, cash management, payroll interfaces, and ledgers. The role will also include responsibility for delivering accurate, timely management information, leading financial planning and reporting cycles, and maintaining robust financial governance.





As a key partner to the leadership team, the Finance Controller will align financial performance with strategic objectives, support pricing, margin, and investment analysis, ensure statutory compliance, and drive continuous improvement in controls, systems, and reporting automation.




Key Responsibilities




Lead monthly close, reporting and Board Pack preparation - delivering clear, accurate insight and narratives on performance, KPIs and forecasts Manage core finance operations including AP/AR, cashflow, payroll interfaces, and reconciliation, ensuring strong controls and compliance Own budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling to support strategic decisions and commercial priorities Foster a culture of ownership, agility, and collaboration across teams Partner with business leaders on pricing, bids, and investment cases to drive profitable growth and margin improvement Develop and implement treasury and funding strategies, ensuring optimal cashflow and capital management to support business ambitions Ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements, including VAT, payroll, GDPR, Companies House, and HMRC, maintaining up-to-date records and robust governance Lead and deliver strategic finance projects, supporting business transformation and scalable growth initiatives Oversee audit, tax, and statutory reporting, maintain governance, controls, and risk management standards Champion process improvement, automation, and best practice use of finance systems and BI tools Autonomy to shape the finance function to take the business forward



Skills & Experience




5+ years in finance role with increasing responsibility (technology/SaaS experience a plus) Proven ownership of Board or Exec-level packs: preparing narratives, KPI dashboards, and presenting insights/follow ups Ownership of month end, management reporting, budgeting/forecasting, and cash management Track record improving controls, processes and systems Business partnering with non-finance stakeholders, pricing or contract support advantageous Led audits and external advisor relationships Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and delivering strategic initiatives Familiarity with Agile methodologies Degree in Finance/Accounting/Business or equivalent and ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified, or finalist preferred Excellent IT skills, including experience of Xero, GoCardless, Excel Modelling, Microsoft Office and CRMs
