Nexus Education Schools Trust are seeking a Finance Lead to join their busy team. You'll play a key role in supporting both the central trust and our partner schools, ensuring financial excellence and compliance.
Responsibilities
Partnering with Headteachers, budget holders, and the central finance team to manage school budgets effectively, including:
Leading on annual budget setting
Producing monthly management reports and budget update
Authorising expenditure by approving order requisitions in line with agreed budgets
Approving supplier payments via BACS and faster payment systems
Overseeing income streams, ensuring all expected revenue is received and accounted for
Managing payroll reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Completing bank and charge card reconciliations, along with balance sheet checks, to maintain financial integrity
Preparing year-end accounting journals in line with Trust guidance
Supporting internal and external audits, ensuring readiness and compliance
Ensuring adherence to the NEST Scheme of Delegation and Finance Policy & Procedures Manual
Providing timely support with financial processes and ensuring tasks are completed to deadline
Delivering excellent customer service to partner schools, resolving financial queries with clarity and care
Contributing flexibly, taking on additional duties as required in line with the role's grade and scope
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate will hold a minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent Level 2 qualifications), including English and Maths at grade C/4 or above. While not essential, a finance or accounting qualification at Level 4 or higher is desirable.
You should bring proven experience working in an accountancy or finance office, along with a strong track record of delivering excellent customer service. Experience within an educational setting and maintaining an accounts system would be advantageous.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential, as the role involves travel to partner schools.
