As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a highly skilled and strategic
Finance Lead
to lead our finance function and take full responsibility for the company's financial management and strategy.
Role Overview
The Finance Lead will be a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business. This includes managing the finance department, ensuring robust financial controls, driving financial performance, and contributing to long-term strategic planning. The successful candidate will provide financial insight and guidance to support decision-making at board level.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic financial leadership and support to the Board of Directors and senior management team.
Lead and manage the finance department, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations.
Develop, implement, and monitor robust financial systems, controls, and reporting processes.
Oversee preparation of accurate monthly management accounts, budgets, cash flow forecasts, and statutory accounts.
Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, tax requirements, and company policies.
Manage relationships with external stakeholders including auditors, banks, insurers, and HMRC.
Provide financial analysis and modelling to support strategic initiatives and business growth.
Identify risks and opportunities, advising on long-term business and financial planning.
Oversee payroll, credit control, and supplier payment processes.
Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to ensure high performance and professional development.
Supplier engagement, rate negotiations, credit limits, rebates
Key Requirements
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
Proven track record in a senior finance leadership role, ideally as Head of Finance, or Financial Controller.
Strong technical accounting knowledge with experience in financial planning, budgeting, and risk management.
Excellent leadership and people management skills, with experience of building and developing teams.
Commercially astute with the ability to influence and contribute to strategic business decisions.
High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly.
Experience within the environmental, construction, or consultancy sectors would be advantageous but not essential.
Invoice Finance management and review of the process
Experience of Xero financial platform, maximising the benefits of the programme.
