Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Finance Manager to join Think Better Group. This role will support the CFO by overseeing specific financial functions, contributing to financial planning, and ensuring operational efficiency. As a key contributor, you will be pivotal in the company's financial health and expansion. This role is a hands-on operational finance responsibilities across multiple entities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting, Tax & Compliance
Manage the month end process for Think Better Group Ltd and all international entities.
Oversee the preparation of accurate financial statements in compliance with UK/US standards.
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, both internally and externally.
Monitor compliance with financial regulations and governance standards.
Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Perform general ledger entries and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings and reconciliations.
Responsible for VAT returns (UK), BAS/GST returns (Australia), PVA and deferment entries and compliance monitoring through HMRC portals.
Manage three direct reports: UK Management Accountant, Assistant Accountant, and Australian Management Accountant.
Manage operational audit processes and the year-end reporting pack preparation.
Review and approve purchase orders, monitor stock levels, and ensure appropriate deferment and COGS adjustments.
2. Operational Efficiency
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement strategies to enhance efficiency.
Support risk management efforts to mitigate financial risks.
Oversee cash flow management and financial risk hedging.
Supervise Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) functions.
Ensure efficient payroll processing, including payroll taxes and benefits reporting.
3. Team Leadership & Development
Manage the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance.
Ensure the finance function supports the business with actionable insights.
Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with team members and oversee performance evaluations.
Coordinate month-end timetables and cover team absences when needed.
Key Requirements
Experience:
Proven experience as a senior finance professional, ideally in a high-growth, consumer-focused environment.
Credentials: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified. A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
Strong, working knowledge of business, financial and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and practices.
Experience managing the end to end month end process and operational accounting functions, including AR, AP and payroll.
Hands-on experience with multi-entity reporting, intercompany reconciliations and FX entries.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong management skills with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in UK accounting standards and financial regulations.
Ability to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices in financial operations.
Proficiency in accounting software, including Xero and QuickBooks.
Experience with Spotlight reporting tools and Shopify/Stripe integrations desirable.
