More About The Role




The Insurance Risk Manager role offers a superb opportunity to make a huge difference working with numerous internal and external stakeholders mitigating and managing billions of pounds of risk exposure and tens of millions of pound of insurance premiums. This is a high profile role with senior exposure and the ideal candidate will have both the aptitude and attitude to deliver optimal solutions to complex problems using initiative, great communication and an analytical approach seeking and acting on best advice and adopting

a robust approach to governance and process improvement.

You will lead a team to deliver changes to business processes and controls to mitigate the total cost of risk (arising from insurance premiums and self-insured exposures) and manage processes and performance of claims recovery including negotiation of settlement from insurers and third parties. As technical subject matter expert for insurance, you will be ensuring we are compliant with the obligations and terms of our insurance policies and maintain insurance cover that responds to the risks faced by the business and protects the assets owned by the business.



Accountabilities:

Customer

Be the technical subject matter expert for insurance, providing advice to the business on the insurance cover in effect and available in the market to respond to the risks faced within Morrisons. Provide support to internal customers as they negotiate contracts, ensuring that third party suppliers maintain adequate insurance covers. Provide support and guidance to internal and external customers on new company initiatives and new- build/refurbishment projects across the estate. Provide reporting to line manager and Treasury Committee to show performance of the insurance P&L and individual classes of insurance that drive this. Actively look for opportunities to serve customers better.

Colleague

Provide direction and development to direct reports,managing performance and prioritising deliverables. Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders to maintain insurance cover and secure improvements to our business risk profile for the benefit of our total cost of risk (total insurance P&L). Identify personal and professional opportunities for



Operational

Regular communication with insurance brokers to maintain insurance cover for the business. Update Insurers on relevant developments. Manage the timely settlement of insurance claims and recovery of losses (arising on fleet, property and any other class of insurance). Develop and maintain appropriate periodic reports, data analysis and dashboards to show performance and allow continuous improvement. Continually focusing on simplifying and improving insurance processes. Define clear objectives for the insurance team that link directly to the wider objectives of Tax and Treasury. Share the right amount of information with others to help them make informed and proactive decisions (e.g. the value associated with a particular type of activity such as insurance claims arising on store pick vehicles).

Sales Profit &; Cash

Delivery of improvements to reduce the insurance costs to the P&L and to maximise the amounts we recover from insurers and third parties to offset the loss we suffered. Identify opportunities where insurance cover may reduce P&L risk by protecting the assets or interruptions to business performance. Lead cross-team review process and agree actions to turn learnings into future improvements.

About You




Knowledge



Deep understanding of the insurance market and insurer business models. In depth knowledge of the terms of insurance cover in effect. Strong understanding of business risks faced by Morrisons and how our insurance responds. Skills An ability to deliver in a complex, fast paced

An ability to deliver in a complex, fast paced environment. Leadership skills - the ability to motivate, develop and coach others to succeed, or ability and desire to develop these skills. Excellent analytical thinking and numerical skills. Excellent Microsoft Excel or Google sheets skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management - the ability to build and maintain networks and share financial data outside of the Finance team in a meaningful way Strong attention to detail. Ability to build strong relationships and act as a trusted advisor on insurance to the business. The ability to deliver change within the business for the benefit of the Group P&L. Resilience and ability to adapt in an ever changing environment



Experience



Experience of working with insurers and insurance brokers. Experience of cost / benefit analysis of insurance cover and managing total cost of risk. Experience of reviewing insurance terms, negotiating insurance settlements and managing the insurance renewal. * Experience of leading a team.
