Job Summary


We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager with ACCA, CIMA or similar qualification, to manage the practice's day to day accounts and all associated financial activity including book-keeping and financial reporting.

The Finance Manager is responsible for collating and ensuring the accuracy of the practice's financial information, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practice, and for developing and implementing financial procedures. The role works closely with the Director of Business Operations who has overall financial management responsibility.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:



Annual Accounts & VAT



Preparation of bookkeeping and accountancy systems to provide all necessary company financial information for an external accountant to complete annual accounts for audit and corporate tax returns Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns for the practice and any other secondary VAT requirements.

Monitoring and Reporting



With Director of Business Operations, preparing annual budget and revenue target With Director of Business Operations, establishing business financial KPIs and tracking quarterly Preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts and financial reports for Director meetings Ensuring prompt and accurate month end reporting including variance analysis to budget Producing cash flow projections as required Assisting with monitoring cashflow and working capital against business plan Reviewing and reporting on client credit risks Meeting regularly with the Directors to review budgets and resourcing With Directors, monitoring projects and making sure they are within agreed budgets; supporting project leads with modelling mitigating action where necessary With Directors and project leads, preparing project reconciliation and status reports (including utilisation and profitability) Monitoring external contracts and services provided by suppliers to ensure that these are operating effectively and provide the best value to the company Developing and implementing an internal audit programme to ensure that the company complies with financial procedures and regulations Contributing to the achievement of the company's business objectives by providing advice and guidance on financial strategy, including preparing analysis of historical financial and project data Assisting in the preparation of information for Research & Development claims (for external accountant) Assisting in the preparation of financial information for industry-wide benchmarking reports

Day to day work of Management Accountant



Inputting data and upkeep of bookkeeping and accountancy systems including sales and purchase ledgers Weekly reviewing of debtors and creditors ensuring items are being proactively followed up and issues resolved Preparing and issuing monthly sales invoices Monthly balance sheet reconciliations including bank, and debtor and creditor reconciliations Reviewing payroll and pension reports (prepared by others), ensuring all is accurate and timely Managing credit/finance agreements Overseeing debit cards and petty cash use and record keeping Processing project and staff expenses according to our processes Contributing to the development of the financial systems of the company, providing regular feedback to the Director of Business Operations

Bank



Dealing with bank queries within authorisation limits Organising weekly/monthly payment runs and setting up payments

General

Job Requirements


You will have 5+ years of experience working as a Finance Manager, Project Accountant, Management Accountant, or similar role. You will also be organised and self-driven, have a professional approach, a high level of attention to detail, and strong numerical, communication and interpersonal skills.

You will be able to independently problem solve and work autonomously with minimal supervision. You will have excellent time management, able to prioritise tasks and to meet deadlines.

You will have an excellent standard of oral and written English. You must have great attention to detail, and a team-working attitude.

A strong interest in and ability to present financial data in a visually communicative form would be desirable.

Previous experience working within a design, construction, or creative practice would be preferred but is not essential.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office is necessary, with intermediate/advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel essential.

Previous experience of working with Rapport3 or similar project management software is desirable.

Previous experience of working with SAGE 50, Xero or similar accounting software is essential.
