About the Role:


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager based out of Lichfield on the Screwfix contract. The role will be responsible for the day to day running of the finance department for the Warehouse operations of 2 sites, managing all financial activities in a manner that adds value to the client, the business and successfully achieves key operational performance objectives.


This role will report into the Senior Commercial Finance Manager with functional reporting to the General Managers of the Lichfield & Daresbury sites & requires an individual already used to working at this level, and across multiple sites.


It is Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm, with some hybrid working available after the initial training period.



How will you contribute?



Reporting to the Senior Commercial Finance Manager, this role will be responsible for direct line management of two Assistant Accountants & a Payroll/Finance Assistant. 2x Site receptionists will report to this role via the Assistant Accountants Budget responsibility for a c30m operating budget across 2 sites Manage financial activities in a manner that adds value to the client and the business to achieve key operational performance objectives. Prepare and deliver the Warehouse customer budgets and reforecast process Ensure financial control requirements & policies (including SOX) are met providing a reliable service to the operation whilst meeting budgetary requirements. Ensure a high quality and efficient service is provided both internally and externally to achieve site targets. Develop and maintain a motivated team by providing direction, two-way feedback/ communication and effectively monitoring performance to ensure high levels of service are achieved and maintained. Manage the weekly & monthly reporting to the client within agreed timescales, providing variance analysis where required Promptly resolving and escalating customer queries on their financials Manage the monthly reporting requirements for Wincanton including balance sheet reviews. To communicate key performance targets in all areas conveying facts and ideas clearly, accurately, effectively and persuasively both orally and in writing. Ensure confidentiality protecting the client and the business. Ensure audits are conducted in line with Wincanton policy and procedure and financial regulations. Support the site management team providing regular information relating to performance and budgets. Providing support to payroll where necessary

What will you bring?



Recognised accounting qualification ACCA/ CIMA/ ACA (ideal) Has experience of working in a logistics business & has worked previously in finance/accounting at this level (essential) Proven leadership and management skills across multi-site operations (essential) Demonstrable sound budgeting, forecasting, and reporting knowledge (essential) Sound ledger knowledge and technical ability, ideally some experience of SOX (Ideal) The successful candidate will have positive personality with a can-do attitude, a questioning mind who is happy to challenge back the operation when reviewing costs to find the right answer (essential) Self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work accurately under pressure, plus flexible to the needs of the business during key reporting periods (essential) Ability to work under his/her own initiative as well as part of a team (essential) Understanding the dynamics of open/ closed book contracts (ideal) Understanding the relationship of KPIs and cost drivers to financial management / performance of the contract against budgets and forecasts (essential)
