About the role:





This is a pivotal role in the Finance function with operational responsibility and direct exposure to senior leadership. You will play a critical part in ensuring we have strong financial controls, robust internal and external reporting with critical responsibilities to ensure an efficient audit process.





This role will transition previously outsourced bookkeeping and transactional finance provided by a third-party provider and you'll be responsible for overseeing that transition and making sure the systems, processes, and reporting are rock solid. As the business scales, you'll be part of a high-performing in-house finance team.





You'll also work closely with our C-suite on visionary projects, financial planning, and the long-term growth of the business.




Key Responsibilities:



Business as Usual




Revenue and Expense invoice processing. Month-end reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, supplier statement reconciliations and payroll reconciliations Carry out regular reconciliations of prepaid card transactions, ensuring accuracy between card processor records and internal systems. Support the Financial Controller in analysing interchange fees and understanding their impact on margin. Work with the Office Manager to ensure timely approval of invoices. Prepare VAT returns and ensure payment and reconciliation of balances due from and to HMRC. Build and continuously improve finance processes, policies, and internal controls.



Fundraising Support




Support the Financial Controller in financial modelling and planning for future fundraising rounds. Assist the Financial Controller to prepare and refine investor-ready financial models.



Strategic & Visionary Projects




Assist Financial Controller with the analysis to support pricing, product strategy, and hiring plans.



You should apply if you are/have:




A newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). A strong technical accounting and financial control background. Comfortable working with transactional data, especially involving card/payment systems. Familiarity with interchange fees or card scheme economics is a plus (or a willingness to learn quickly). A solid understanding of UK tax and compliance obligations. Excellent communication skills - able to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders across all levels. Self-starter with high attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
