Location: Milton Keynes (with 1 day/week in Birmingham)
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Paying 55,000 to 65,000 office based, Robert Half are really pleased to recruit for a leading services businesses that has operations throughout the UK.

Purpose
The Finance Manager will play a key role in delivering robust financial reporting and controls, with a strong focus on contract profitability analysis, Month-end Accounting and group consolidation . The role is responsible for accurate, timely accounting, supporting business performance through insightful reporting, and driving improvements in processes, cost control, and manufacturing accounting. The post-holder will also support site performance in Birmingham and assist the CFO with projects and system upgrades.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead on contract profitability reporting and analysis, presenting findings to management and supporting performance reviews.
• Support the Financial Controller in management accounts for three entities and maintain balance sheet reconciliations.
• Investigate and explain month-end variances.
• Prepare group consolidation (P&L, Balance Sheet, cashflow) and monthly reporting packs.
• Reconcile intercompany balances monthly.
• Ensure accurate accounting across group entities.
• Birmingham (1 day/week):

• Support site management to improve performance
• Credit control, stock takes, and cost control
• Develop manufacturing accounting and manage R&D tax credits
• Maintain and review reconciliations, escalating issues promptly.
• Lead on budgets and forecasts with CFO/FC.
• Assist in statutory accounts, compliance, and banking submissions.
• Drive process improvements and support financial system upgrades.
• Undertake projects to modernise financial services.
• Support CFO with ad hoc tasks.

Additional: Occasional out-of-hours work, training requirements, DBS check, adherence to policies, and PPE when required.
Person Specification
Essential:

• AAT or ACCA/CIMA/ACA part-qualified
• A Levels or equivalent
• Strong bookkeeping and management accounting experience
• Proven analytical skills, including contract profitability and financial statement preparation
• Experience with integrated finance systems (ledger, payments, debtors)
• Strong planning, organisation, and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail, confidentiality, and accuracy
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Excellent communication and people skills

Desirable:

• Experience in facilities management, construction, health, or social care
• ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualified
• NetSuite and multi-site reporting experience
