Finance Manager / Senior Bookkeeper.

Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced
Finance Manager / Senior Bookkeeper
to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This role is ideal for a hands-on finance professional with
strong bookkeeping experience
, the confidence to
manage people when required
, and the ability to
cover Credit Control duties during the Credit Control Manager's absence
.
Reporting to the FD, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial records, timely payments, and smooth financial processes.
Person Profile
The ideal candidate will be:
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Experienced in bookkeeping or finance management within a commercial environment
Confident managing workloads independently while also supporting and managing others when required
Comfortable communicating professionally with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
Proficient in Xero and Microsoft Office
Experienced in managing or supervising staff (or ready to step into a people-management role)
Key Responsibilities
Managing accounts payable and receivable
Raising sales invoices and processing purchase invoices in Xero
Completing bank reconciliations and making bank payments
Managing client and supplier accounts and resolving queries
Following up outstanding payments and covering Credit Control when required
Preparing weekly financial reports
Supporting and overseeing staff where necessary
Optional responsibilities (depending on experience): payroll, VAT, and year-end prep
About You
Minimum 5 years' experience in a bookkeeping or finance role
Strong working knowledge of Xero and Microsoft Office
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Confident communicator with clients, suppliers, and colleagues
Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Previous management or supervisory experience preferred
Desirable (but not essential)
AAT / ACCA / ICAEW qualification
CRM system experience
