About the Role
We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented and commercially astute
Finance Manager
to join and manage our finance team and play a key role in maintaining robust financial controls and supporting business decisions.
Reporting directly to the MD, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, managing the month-end process, and providing insights that help drive better financial decisions. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant with at least 3 years' experience who is ready to step into an impactful role within an ethical employee-owned care company.

Role Summary
The Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing core financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance, and supporting both internal and external stakeholders with relevant insights and data.

You will be based at our main office which is at:
Units 3 & 5, Enterprise House, North Hylton Road, Sunderland SR5 3AD
What You'll Do
Production and review of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and supporting commentary.
Provide Senior Managers with accurate and comprehensive financial information.
Preparing and presenting quarterly financial figures and projections
Overseeing all financial control activities, including review and analysis of monthly P&L.
Manage month-end close activities, including journals, accruals, and reconciliations
Support budgeting, forecasting, and rolling financial models
Monitor and analyse key performance indicators
Assist with cash flow reporting and scenario planning
Support audit preparation, tax filings, and other statutory requirements
Help improve and maintain financial processes, controls, and reporting tools
Support with any tenders and bids
Overseeing the operations of bank accounts
Developing and mentoring the finance team including hands-on support.
Ensure adherence to financial regulations and best practices.
Compliance & Audit
Provide required financial data to auditors for annual statutory tax computations.
Assist in year-end audit preparation
Completion of ONS (Office for National Statistics) surveys.
Insurance
Prepare data for annual insurance renewals.
Manage all company insurance claims, coordinating with insurers as required.
What We're Looking For
A qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) with 3 years post qualification experience
Strong financial reporting and management accounting skills
A strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Organisational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
Good communication skills and a collaborative working style
Experience in managing month-end processes, reconciliations, and VAT.
Good understanding of Taxation
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (including SAGE Accounts & SAGE Payroll).
Desirable
Minimum 3 years' experience in a finance role
An understanding of the care sector
An understanding of employee-owned businesses
