As Finance Manager you will be part of the team supporting Heathrow with primary focus on Technical Accounting & Reporting. Heathrow is a complex, regulated business and you will support the Financial Reporting Team to ensure all disclosures and reporting is aligned with accounting policies and standards.
The role will also support the maintenance and update of the group's accounting policies and critical accounting judgements, working with the business to ensure compliance, as well as preparing and presenting high quality papers to the Audit Committee on key accounting developments.
Whilst there will be external financial reporting cycles to support, generally no two days will be the same as you will be provided with countless opportunities to get to understand the complex infrastructure, retail, and commercial operations of the UK's biggest airport, as well as applying your already strong technical accounting knowledge as needed.
Technical accounting - You will support the Financial Reporting in all critical accounting judgements, supported by the wider Financial Control team as needed, as well as the Group's Accounting policies under both IFRS and UK GAAP. In particular, you will support the team to ensure disclosures are in line with IFRS reporting standards.
You will be required to stay current with the latest financial reporting changes and accounting standard updates such as Rate Regulation and IFRS18 to ensure Heathrow complies with all accounting developments. You must also have strong experience dealing with financial instruments, PPE and distributable reserves as well as a desire to proactively engage with new accounting standards ahead of implementation.
Collaborating with Financial Reporting in delivering the Group's Annual Report and Accounts and various statutory financial statements. Supporting as required in terms of maintenance and embedding any changes to the Group's Accounting policies, as well as ensuring they are disclosed appropriately in all financial statements.
Supporting the Consolidation & Financial Reporting teams in ensuring all complex or new accounting areas are appropriately accounted for and disclosed.
Partner up with the business on a wide range of accounting projects. Develop and maintain a strong network across Commercial, Operations, Sustainability, Investment, Transformation, Business Services, Regulatory and provide technical accounting advice on the impact of proposals being raised by the business.
You will prepare, review and present relevant accounting and reporting papers to the External Auditors and the Audit Committee, ensuring all conclusions on critical and key judgements are supported and justified.
Qualified ACA or equivalent with extensive technical accounting experience most recently in a senior finance position
Experience with accounting for financial instruments under IFRS (IFRS 9, IFRS 7, IAS 7, IAS 32, IAS 39 and IFRS 17) and UK GAAP
Able to demonstrate strong leadership skills and ability to build strong working relationships, motivate teams and manage multiple stakeholders across the business
Ability to adapt to a changing environment, solve problems and implement process improvements which drive efficiency.
Strong professional written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail.
Ability to present to senior stakeholder with authority and be trusted as an expert.
