Job Purpose



The Finance Manager will be responsible for ensuring effective financial management across the charity. They will lead on budgeting, reporting, compliance, and financial planning to support the charity's mission and long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities



Financial Management & Reporting



Oversee day-to-day financial operations including income, expenditure, cash and investments, payroll and reconciliations. Produce timely and accurate monthly management accounts, forecasts, and variance analysis. Prepare annual statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors. Ensure compliance with Charity Commission requirements, Companies House, and SORP (FRS 102). Monitor cash flow and manage reserves in line with financial policies.

Budgeting & Strategic Planning



Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with senior leads. Provide financial insight and modelling to support strategic decisions and funding applications. Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to support best practice.

Compliance & Risk Management



Ensure robust internal controls and compliance with all relevant financial legislation. Oversee financial risk management, including fraud prevention and insurance arrangements. Support the Board and Senior Leadership Team, preparing papers and presenting key financial updates.

Person Specification



Essential



Qualified accountant or equivalent. Experience in a similar financial leadership role, ideally within the charity or non-profit sector. Strong understanding of charity accounting (SORP) and fund accounting principles. Excellent financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting skills. Strong IT skills, particularly in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks) and Excel. Effective communicator with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders. Commitment to the charity's mission and values.

Desirable



Knowledge of grant reporting and restricted funds management. Experience with financial aspects of fundraising, contracts, or service delivery.
