Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Finance Manager to lead the financial operations of the charity. The postholder will ensure robust financial controls, effective reporting, and strategic oversight to support good governance and informed decision-making. This is a key leadership role and an integral member of the senior management team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead on the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and management accounts
Oversee financial reporting in accordance with UK accounting standards (including the Charity SORP)
Prepare quarterly financial returns for the Open Mental Health partnership, and other financial reporting as required
Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including Companies House and the Charity Commission
Oversee the issue of customer invoices, collection of cash and payment of supplier invoices
Manage payroll (working with the HR department) and pension payments, HMRC returns and other tax-related matters
Monitor and manage cash flow and reserves
Liaise with external auditors and lead on the year-end account's preparation and the audit process
Maintain and recommend improvements to financial systems, policies, and procedures
Manage a finance team of two direct line reports
Provide financial analysis and recommendations to the board and senior management
Undertaking some office procurement functions
Contribute to the running of the organisation as a member of the senior management team
Person Specification:?
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
Strong technical accounting knowledge
Strong Excel and Modelling Skills
Experience with preparation of statutory accounts
Ability to delegate and manage the work of others
Collaborative and team-focused Desirable:
Experience leading an annual audit
Knowledge of Sage
Experience of charity accounting
