Finance Officer (Accounts payable)

At Beatson Cancer Charity we support and enhance the treatment, care and wellbeing of current, former and future cancer patients and their families. We work in partnership with the NHS, The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and all related facilities. We also offer the wider community a unique opportunity to contribute to the enhancement of cancer care.

As a key member of the Finance team, the post holder will take the lead role in the Accounts Payable process for the charity.

Salary: 24,000 - 26,000 per annum

Reporting to: Finance Manager

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

Holidays: 40 days per annum (inclusive of Public Holidays)

Pension: 7% employer and 3% employee contribution

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor the email Inbox for the finance team.

- Process supplier invoices, matching purchase orders.

- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice queries.

- Daily banking tasks and reconciliations.

- Prepare fortnightly payment lists for authorisation.

- Cash handling and reconciliations and maintaining up to date, accurate records.

- Managing the online portal for business charge cards.

- Update and maintain Sage 50 finance system, including importing data.

- Preparation of monthly cost accruals and prepayments for the charity.

- Complete reconciliations, including Shopify, credit cards and cash handling/counting relating to the Beatson Cafe (using the Maitre D system).

Essential Candidate Criteria

- High level of numeracy, experience of which has been achieved within a similar role.

- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 including knowledge of Advanced Excel.

- Finance Systems experience.

- Good relationship building and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and observe General Data Protection Regulations.

- A commitment to continuous improvement of finance processes.

Desirable Criteria

- Experience of using Sage50, Shopify, EPOS systems.

- Studying towards an accountancy qualification.
