Then we're looking for someone just like you to be a Finance Officer here at Barnsley Council.


About the role:





We are looking for talented individuals to assist with Council Tax Billing and Collection as well as processing Council Tax Support applications as part of our Operational Finance service. This crucial role supports our community and ensures funding for vital services in the borough, aligning with the Council's commitment to efficient and effective service delivery.



The Council's People Strategy will act to support the successful candidate to adopt the culture and behaviours of a modern, agile, healthy, engaged, skilled and innovative workforce.


Key Responsibilities




Providing excellent customer service over a busy helpline

Dealing with all incoming digital communications

Navigation of and inputting into the Council's management systems, including processing of council tax & council tax support records, reliefs, discounts and appeals.

Liaise with internal and external stakeholders

Contribute to business process re-engineering improvements across all functional areas to drive forward efficiencies.

Undertake duties whilst dealing with interruptions, queries and conflicting demands arising from customer and service queries.

About You





You will be passionate about serving the public, dedicated to excellent customer service and flourish in a dynamic, collaborative, and innovative environment.



You will need to familiar with Microsoft packages and have a keen eye for detail. Be able to adapt your approach, behaviour and actions to work as part of a team, or on your own, and be flexible in order to meet the demands of the business unit and the wider council.



You will be the type of person who thrives on a challenge and can use your skills to deliver outcomes that really make a difference.



The successful candidate will be an ambitious individual seeking to progress their career within the revenues environment and this would be an excellent opportunity for someone with an experience in working in council tax billing, council tax support and/or collection, although this is not essential.
