Salary range: 44,685 - 48,003 p.a. inc. London weighting


Contract: Permanent


Hours of work: 36 hours per week


Location: Civic centre and other locations from time to time

The Post

Shared Technology Services are looking for a Finance Officer to support the Financial Controller in providing efficient and timely support in the provision of a comprehensive professional finance service that fulfils partner Councils statutory, corporate and operational requirements.


Other responsibilities include assisting the Financial Controller in monthly budget monitoring, monthly recharges to Partner Councils and analysing weekly GL and PO Reports. The successful candidate will be required to run Oracle and other financial reports promptly when required to facilitate data analysis and decision making.


The successful candidate will also be dealing with Accounts Receivable (raising Customer invoices), Accounts Payable, including checking the receipting and coding of POs, downloading supplier invoices, payroll, overtime and reconciliations (both, supplier and customer accounts), as well as preparing the numbers for budgets, annual accounts and strategic financial forecasts.


The Person

We are looking for a candidate with excellent numeracy and IT skills equipped with strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to represent STS Finance at meetings and other briefings etc.


The successful candidate will possess good problem solving skills, be proactive and very-well organised, and have good Excel skills to accurately prepare financial reports.


The successful candidate will have experience of working in local government or possess other relevant experience. It is highly desirable that the candidate holds an accounting qualification and / or experience in finance and accounting. It is also expected that the candidate will possess good working knowledge in Accounts Payable and financial ERPs (Oracle).
