About the role
As the Finance Officer your manager will be our Assistant Management Accountant. You will work 37 hours a week on a permanent basis, working flexibly in the Vico Homes operating area within our Head Office in Castleford.
As the Finance Officer you will be responsible for transacting and ensuring the accuracy of the information shared across the team and the organisation. You will be preparing the budget reports that go out to budget holders, monitoring expenditure and highlighting variances. You will be working closely as part of a team and supporting others, your ability to build relationships and communicate will be as important as your knowledge.

Assisting the Assistant Management Accountant in the preparation and reporting of the 2025/2026 ambitious Reinvestment Programme
Keeping budget holders up to date with Financial Information, assisting in the preparation of Management Accounts, Year End Reconciliations and ledger maintenance
Following through on delivery of our organisational strategy as it relates to your respective work areas

What you'll do
Ensure work undertaken is accurately recorded, with documentation appropriately processed in line with organisational processes and procedures
Manage queries and work collaboratively with stakeholders to resolve queries
Process all appropriate month and year end tasks in line with the accounting periods to ensure accurate accounting of expenditure
Report contractual issues arising from financial processes to the relevant Manager and Procurement Department
Provide support, advice and guidance to all Vico Homes colleagues in relation to the appropriate financial processes and IT systems
Assist Line Manager in the coordination of information, evidence and documentation as required by internal and external stakeholders
Be responsible for developing and maintaining good professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maximise key outputs
Assist with the development, maintenance, and continual review of systems to update procedural documentation as required
Assist with the day-to-day budget management and procurement requirements for delivering the services of departments throughout Vico Homes
Ensure that the consistency of service provision, quality and performance standards are maintained
Any other tasks as requested for the benefit of the organisation

What we're looking for
You will:
Level 2 qualification such as GCSEs (Grades A-C/9-4) or similar including English and Maths. AAT qualified or part CCAB is desirable
A thorough knowledge and understanding of financial systems and procedures within a financial environment. An awareness of appropriate external legislation and financial regulations
Experience of delivering a customer focussed service within a finance related field
IT literate with the ability to use and develop PC based information systems
Strong organisational and time management abilities, with a proven track record of meeting deadlines and managing workloads independently in a performance orientated culture
Excellent numerical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to work within the requirements of a financial framework
Effective communicator, with good presentation skills and capable of handling challenging conversations professionally over the telephone and adapting flexibly to the evolving needs of the service
