Finance Officer

Main aims of the post
To ensure accurate and timely payment of employee wages and to maintain financial records and controls. This includes processing payroll, managing deductions and tax compliance, resolving discrepancies, and providing financial support and reporting.
To provide support to the Finance and Resources Team Leader in the day to day running of the Finance and Resources Department, ensuring accurate records are kept for all daily transactions.
To assist when needed in covering for the Facilities and Monitoring Officer.
Duties to include
Process starters, leavers and contract amendments, ensuring data is accurate in the payroll system.
Deal with statutory payments, pensions, attachment of earnings, holiday and sickness calculations.
Maintain employee records, including personal details, bank details and tax codes.
Run 4 weekly payroll ensuring accuracy and meeting deadlines.
Prepare payroll journals.
Data entry with regards to journals, invoices, bills, expenses and receipts.
Produce customer invoices and record payments and monitor accounts receivable, chasing up on payments where necessary.
Manage accounts payable, including checking supplier invoices against orders and/or approvals received, and checking expense claim forms from staff.
Be responsible for the collating the payment runs for suppliers and staff expenses.
Assist with making grants to carers.
Support in ensuring that 3rd party databases are updated with regards to Regulated Services.
General support to the Finance and Resources team.
Manage day to day administrative duties, including post and correspondence.
Managing purchases of office supplies.
Support in setting up equipment.
The Person
Knowledge and Experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft packages
- Payroll (Sage 50 Payroll) experience
- Have proven experience of working within a payroll / finance department
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient IT Skills in Microsoft packages and the ability to work with bespoke software packages
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exercise diplomacy, tact and sensitivity when assisting customers and staff with their queries
- Organise own work and multi-task
- Analyse queries, identify problems and solutions
- Work as part of a team or on own initiative
- Work accurately under pressure and meet targets
- Understand confidentiality and GDPR
This is a part time role, working 20 hours per week (preferably Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, however, this is negotiable).
FTE Salary 25,000 - 28,000 dependent upon experience.
