Eastleigh Town Council is seeking to appoint a highly proactive,
experienced
, knowledgeable and enthusiastic Finance Officer to support the council's various officers and Councillors in ensuring that the financial engine room of the council is organised, structured, adaptable and efficient at all times. The Officer will have responsibility for ensuring that the Town Clerk & RFO is supported in having access to accurate, up to date and timely financial information always available. This will be very much a pro-active role within the office environment, and not one for somebody who wants routine and repetition.
The council is still relatively new, having been established in May 2022, and whilst it does not currently have an adopted Strategic Plan as such, it is already a long way down the line of creating one and has already adopted a set of core values. This post will be key in ensuring that the council's financial information is constantly monitored, working closely with the Town Clerk & RFO in ensuring potential issues are identified in a timely manner, especially in relation to its published plans.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have relevant experience - a track record of working in a financial environment, an ability to interact with differing groups of people, have excellent IT skills in a range of accounting software in particular, experience of preparing and delivering financial reports, be self-motivated and possess sound communication and organisational skills.
It is not essential that candidates have a level of local government experience, though a basic knowledge of how local councils at the Town Council level operate would be of some benefit. Attendance at evening meetings and weekend events may be required occasionally, for which time off in lieu will be granted.
