The role Working closely with the Finance Business Partner, the postholder will support the efficient and smooth day-to-day operations of the finance team. Foundations would be flexible for the postholder to progress in the accounting career by allowing time for study and exams. Key responsibilities

oBookkeeping: Maintain accurate bookkeeping using Xero, ensuring precise processing of financial transactions. Maintain and reconcile purchase and sales ledgers to track supplier and customer transactions accurately.

oAccounts Payable & Receivable: Process supplier invoices, staff reimbursements, and income receipts, ensuring correct coding and proper authorisation.oManagement Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts, providing clear financial insights to support decision-making.

oDfE Claims: Compile and submit Department for Education (DfE) funding claims accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.oBank Reconciliation: Perform regular bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.

oReporting: Provide accurate transactional data to support monthly and quarterly financial DfE claims, reports, and audits.oCompliance & Controls: Adhere to internal financial controls and government funding conditions, ensuring a full audit trail and accountability.

oTimely Execution: Complete all financial entries, reconciliations, and reporting within strict deadlines to support operational continuity and funding requirements.oData Accuracy: Maintain meticulous records and uphold data integrity across all financial systems and documentation.

Key tasks



oManaging the finance inbox and clearing all queries in a time efficient manner, including correspondence with suppliers, project teams.

oVerifying that staff have followed procurement rules before engaging a supplier and obtaining/filing any necessary paperwork to support this.

oEnsuring invoices are correctly coded and authorised, following the organisation's financial control procedures.

oChecking staff expense claims for compliance with the charity's expenses policy.oLiaising with internal teams to ensure a timely service.

oProcessing company charge cards and expenses and ensuring appropriate receipts are provided and submitted within the given deadline on a monthly basis.

oCreating payment runs on the online banking system and ensuring compliance with signatory requirements.oAssisting with the year end audit as directed.

oHelping with other ad hoc tasks as required.
