The Role:
We're looking for a part-time averaging 2 days a week, multi-skilled Finance Officer to take ownership of our financial processes--from day-to-day bookkeeping and payroll to strategic management reporting.
This standalone role offers variety and autonomy, combining bookkeeping, management accounting, and payroll responsibilities. You'll be the go-to person for all things finance, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and insight across our financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain ledgers, journals, and reconcile bank accounts
Process purchase invoices, payments, and manage accounts payable/receivable
Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
Analyse variances and provide commentary on performance
Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
Process payroll for drivers and office employees
Handle statutory deductions (PAYE, NI, pensions) and submit RTI to HMRC
Administer auto-enrolment pension schemes and resolve payroll queries
Prepare VAT returns and assist with year-end accounts
Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and HMRC
Monitor fleet-related costs and operational KPIs
Ensure compliance with financial policies and statutory requirements
What you'll Bring:
AAT, ACCA, CIMA or qualified by experience
Experience in bookkeeping, management accounting, and payroll
Knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC reporting
Proficiency in accounting and payroll software - Sage and Xero
Ability to work independently and communicate across departments
