About the Role


We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Finance & Operations Manager to take ownership of financial management across a diverse portfolio of companies, while also supporting HR, office operations, and executive administration. This is a broad, hands-on role suited to a proactive individual with strong technical accounting skills and excellent organisational ability, capable of delivering accurate financial reporting, process improvements, and operational support in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities



Financial Management & Reporting



Maintain full financial oversight for 40+ entities, including intercompany accounts, reconciliations, journals, and cash flow forecasting. Implement and manage Xero accounting systems across multiple companies, including Chart of Accounts, payroll, and compliance workflows. Oversee monthly bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and ensure ledger accuracy. Prepare and submit VAT returns, CIS submissions, and statutory filings (e.g. Confirmation Statements to Companies House). Produce detailed management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and depreciation. Maintain and reconcile fixed asset registers, including asset classification and depreciation allocation. Process supplier and payroll payments, oversee pensions, benefits, and liaise with HMRC on PAYE/NIC compliance. Manage budgeting processes (monthly/annual), cost allocation, and financial analysis across departments and projects. Support preparation of year-end statutory accounts & tax returns, liaising with external accountants and auditors. Manage intercompany loans, interest calculations, and support corporate structuring activities including mergers, demergers, and joint ventures. Deliver clear and timely financial reports to Directors, supporting informed decision-making. Support business incorporation and corporate structure optimisation.

HR & Compliance



Oversee employee onboarding, including contracts, employment packs, and policy management. Ensure compliance with HR regulations, GDPR, and OHS requirements in liaison with external HR advisors. Maintain and update company HR documentation, policies, and procedures when necessary.

Office & Operations Management



Oversee day-to-day office operations, including IT and phone systems, office supplies, and vendor relationships. Organise staff events, including annual Christmas and summer parties. Ensure smooth running of office facilities and team support.

PA & Executive Support



Provide executive assistance to Directors, including diary management, document preparation, and ad-hoc administrative support. Assist with their own private/separate companies

Skills & Experience Required



Qualified or part-qualified accountant (AAT/ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent experience. Strong knowledge of Xero and advanced Excel skills (report building, data analysis). Proven experience in managing multi-entity financial operations and reporting. Excellent knowledge of UK compliance, VAT, CIS, PAYE, and Companies House filings. Strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to manage diverse responsibilities. Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: 45,000.00-50,000.00 per year
