What's the role all about?

As a Finance Practitioner, you'll provide assistance across a range of financial services, including budgeting, reporting, and systems support. From preparing budgets to supporting service users and colleagues, your work will directly contribute to the council's ability to deliver effective and efficient services. You'll also help maintain financial integrity, support system development, and ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures.

What will your day look like?

As part of a wider team, you will support budget holders with financial planning and monitoring, ensuring they have the data needed to make informed decisions. You'll produce accurate and timely financial information investigate queries and play a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial systems. Your contribution will be vital in training and supporting colleagues on financial systems, managing reconciliations, and contributing to both budget preparation and year-end processes. Additionally, you'll be responsible for reviewing financial returns and grant claims. Within a supported environment you will be able to develop your skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment where juggling multiple priorities and meeting deadlines is all part of the challenge.

Who are we looking for?

We're seeking an individual looking to build a career within a large accountancy team. Whilst not essential, accounting experience or qualifications would be beneficial. Opportunities to work towards an accounting qualification would be considered for the right applicant. You'll have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, paired with a proactive, solutions-focused approach to challenges. Your ability to manage workloads effectively and support colleagues

will be key to your success in this role. If you're adaptable, detail-oriented, and ready to make a meaningful impact, we'd love to hear from you.
