About the Role

We're looking for a Finance Project Writer to turn complex financial data into clear, accurate, and compliant R&D claim reports. You'll work closely with clients, their finance teams, and our in-house specialists to make sure every submission is robust, compliant, and ready for HMRC.

What you'll bring:

Solid background in finance, accounting, or tax (e.g. Accounting Manager, Finance Manager, Tax Lead).

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, UK GAAP, and corporation tax.

Excellent written communication skills - able to make financials clear and persuasive.

Confident with Excel, accounting software, and databases.

Attention to detail and accuracy under pressure.

Comfortable working with clients and across teams.

Highly organised with strong time management.

Bonus: experience with CRM/project tools (e.g. Monday.com).

About you...

You're analytical, detail-focused, and curious, with a natural ability to spot patterns and insights in financial data. A confident communicator who enjoys solving problems, you bring clarity to complex situations. Flexible and proactive, you're comfortable juggling multiple projects at once, while staying calm under pressure. Self-motivated and driven, you also thrive in a collaborative team environment where ideas and expertise are shared.

Whilst industry knowledge of Tax would be beneficial, this is not essential to succeed in the role. With our support, you will be able to apply your skills, expertise and desire for knowledge to become a specialist in this field.

You will...

Analyse and prepare financial data for SME and RDEC claims.

Write clear, accurate financial narratives to support submissions.

Review costs against HMRC guidelines.

Liaise with clients and external accountants to gather and validate data.

Act as the go-to contact for finance queries during the claim process.

Support Finance with audit packs, payroll extractions, invoicing, and debtor reporting when needed.

Help improve templates, processes, and reporting systems.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 30,000.00-45,000.00 per year
