A bit about the role...
---------------------------
Working in a team with our Senior Finance Managers and Finance Analysts, the Financial Reporting Manager will play a critical role in providing technical accounting advice and support to ensure that transactions are recorded and reported correctly throughout the year. The role is key to ensuring International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), HM Treasury Financial Reporting Manual (FreM), Consolidated Budgeting Guidance (CBG) and Managing Public Money (MPM) requirements are interpreted and applied appropriately throughout the year and during the production of the Agency's Annual Report and Accounts. You will be joining our small but friendly team which sits within the wider finance function and is responsible for core accounting and financial reporting.
The ethos of the team is to work collaboratively, flexibly and value diversity in experience and perspective to foster good decision making and problem solving.
This is a rare chance to shape the future of the finance function in a fast growing, national organisation with real social purpose. Working with key stakeholders and a diverse technical finance team, you will ensure efficient, consistent and timely financial reporting and value adding accounting advice. You will help identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial performance and outcomes. Additionally, this role will support the design and delivery of key strategic projects.
A bit about you...
--------------------
Whilst our day job is to deliver first class financial reporting to our stakeholders, you will be used to "spinning several plates" at once and will always be looking for ways to improve and innovate. You will be involved in the preparation of monthly reporting utilising complex spreadsheets and will be responsible for producing specific sections of the Annual Report and Financial Statements, including the ability to critique and revise content prepared by others.
As a qualified finance professional, you'll be comfortable supporting the team and wider Agency with accounting issues, aiming to assist with the correct treatment of transactions in the financial statements. You will have a good knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and, preferably, experience of applying Consolidated Budgeting Guidance (CBG).
Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn't always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as a team. You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.
As an experienced finance professional you'll understand how to manage colleagues and be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way.
You will need to have a recognised postgraduate-level professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA).
