The Role:

As a Finance Specialist at Barbon Group, you will play a crucial role in one of our largest businesses. You will be responsible for independently leading finance operations, ensuring accurate and timely completion of day-to-day tasks while identifying opportunities for process improvement. Reporting to the Credit Control & Finance Administration Manager, you will collaborate closely with team members from both the finance department and across the organisation.

This role presents a temporary opportunity that may lead to a permanent position.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main finance contact for one of Barbon\'s largest businesses
  • Work in close partnership with team members to ensure accurate completion of tasks
  • Perform monthly duties including invoicing, commission calculations and payments, preparing Sage imports, bank reconciliations, DD submissions, and allocations
  • Collaborate with the MI team to ensure data accuracy and reliability
  • Analyse monthly variances and address internal and external queries
  • Map end-to-end processes, recommend improvements, and document them
  • Challenge existing workflows, driving efficiency and cost savings
  • Liaise with finance functions at both local and Group levels as needed
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and conduct analysis as required
Experience:
  • Part-qualified accountant or a minimum of 3 years of accounting experience; ACA, ACCA, or CIMA-qualified candidates are desirable.
  • Proficient in day-to-day finance duties such as invoicing and month-end activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand performance metrics and explain variances to plan.
  • Experience in process improvement, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows.
  • Comfortable working with large and complex data sets.
  • Proficient in bank reconciliations.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with using Sage software.
