Primary Objective
To assist with all aspects of the finance function, and support the Accountant to deliver a high quality finance function and processes for the football club.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ayr United FC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Trainee (Graduate) to support the day-to-day operations of the club's finance department. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic professional football environment and contribute to the financial performance and sustainability of the Club.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports
Support budgeting and forecasting processes across departments
Manage purchase ledger and process supplier invoices in a timely manner
Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow
Assist with payroll preparation and liaison with HMRC
Maintain accurate records of matchday revenues, retail sales, and hospitality income
Support year-end processes including audit preparation
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations (e.g. SFA/SPFL reporting)
Liaise with internal departments (e.g. ticketing, commercial, retail) on finance matters
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of financial systems and procedures
Candidate Profile
Essential:
A recent graduate in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
Strong attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A proactive approach with a willingness to learn
Desirable:
Knowledge of Sage, or similar accounting platforms
Experience in a finance role (placement or internship)
Passion for football or experience in a sports business environment
Awareness of financial reporting within the Scottish football system

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Essential):
Experience of working in a similar role within a dynamic environment, preferably within elite sport.
Experience of a role that requires an ability to communicate effectively with a number of varied stakeholders.
An ability to forward plan, manage & deliver a number of priorities simultaneously.
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to adapt to the environment to motivate and be a positive influence to peers and supporters/customers.
Evidence of ongoing CPD and a desire to learn from other clubs/sports.
Relevant academic qualification in finance.
