In this role you will provide welfare benefits advice and support, as well as financial assessment services, to adult social care clients in receipt of chargeable services. You will provide telephone and face to face support; deliver professional advice on welfare benefits and assessments; provide support to complete forms and follow up benefit claims to ensure entitlements are realised; and gather financial information and undertake financial assessments to determine individual contributions.
You will work as part of a team liaising with managers across services and with outside agencies to provide an efficient and effective customer focussed service.
The job involves regularly working with people, dealing with subject matter that requires sensitivity and empathy, for example when dealing with people who may be upset, confused or occasionally defensive.
What are we looking for?
You will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to advise customers and members of the public on potentially complex information.
You will be able to exercise sensitivity and empathy when working with and advising members of the public on issues which could be sensitive or difficult.
You will be able to effectively manage your workload and manage priorities to deliver a high-quality financial assessments and welfare benefits service.
You will be comfortable responding independently to unanticipated problems or situations, such as the need to present information in a different way to enable a client with a sensory impairment or other disability to understand.
You will be proactive with a can-do attitude, as well as being a good team player, keen and able to work collaboratively with stakeholders and partners to achieve outcomes within a complex operating environment.
