Financial Controller (Fixed Term - up to 12 months)

Salary: 60,000-65,000 per annum

Location: Central Court, Orpington (Hybrid: 3 days office, 2 remote)

MPFS is the UK Police Family Finance Specialist, proudly serving our members since 1893.

The Role:

We are seeking a qualified Financial Controller to support our CFO, manage an Accounts Assistant, and work with wider management to deliver robust financial accounting, control, and reporting across the Society.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and support the Accounts Assistant, ensuring effective operation of accounting, banking, and financial control systems. Lead the year-end process, including financial statement preparation and coordination with external auditors. Provide monthly expense reporting and regular reviews with budget holders. Maintain up-to-date cashflow forecasts and ensure investments align with our strategy. Deliver timely monthly and quarterly management information (MI). Support the CFO with business partnering, annual planning, budgeting, and ad-hoc analysis.

Key Requirements:

Qualified Chartered Accountant (or equivalent). Experience in retail insurance or investment businesses, with knowledge of UK/EU regulatory requirements. Strong practical knowledge of financial control, reporting, and management processes. Excellent communication and financial analysis skills. Experience managing or overseeing finance colleagues.
