We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Intelligence Unit Manager to join the Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) Function at Banco Santander, S.A. London Branch (SLB). The FCC function identifies, manages and monitors financial crime risks associated with SLB's customers and third-parties in order to ensure compliance with applicable financial crime laws and regulations.
You will lead the investigation and analysis of potentially suspicious activity and emerging financial crime typologies.
The difference you'll make:
Receiving and assessing escalations of suspicious activity from SLB teams
Liaising with other Santander group teams and investigating cases using internal and external information sources
Overseeing the threat mitigation program to facilitate the proactive identification and detection of emerging financial crime risks, making use of data analysis to identify client or transaction risk
Leading SLB's interaction with UK Law Enforcement agencies and other relevant industry and/or regulatory initiatives
Recording the relevant management information for analysis and recommendation(s) to relevant stakeholders and committees
Overseeing relevant financial crime monitoring systems and controls to ensure new developments, thresholds, and scenarios are appropriate for SLB's activity and services (to include system testing and calibration/tuning)
What you'll bring:
These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:
Previous experience of investigating financial crimes related activity and filing suspicious activity reports
Experience of using systems and software to analyse data
Excellent critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of Financial Crime risks and how these are managed
It would also be nice for you to have:
External qualification in Financial Crime (e.g. from ACAMS or ICA)
Educated to Degree level in a relevant subject (Engineering, Finance, Science, and Mathematics) or equivalent
Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to make decisions and build positive relationships with stakeholders
Should show initiative, be organised and be able to plan and prioritise

This role is based at our offices in Triton Square, London located within easy walking distance from Warren Street and Euston.
