About the Role




As a Financial Inclusion Officer, you'll play a key role in helping tenants access the financial support they need. You'll provide clear, practical advice on welfare benefits, budgeting, and money management -- ensuring customers understand their options and can make informed decisions.


You'll work closely with colleagues across Housing, Income, and Tenancy Support, as well as partner agencies, to offer joined-up support that reduces financial exclusion and promotes tenancy sustainability.


It's a rewarding and varied role that combines technical knowledge, problem solving, and genuine people skills to make a lasting difference in people's lives.

A full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle is essential due to the nature of the role.

Key Responsibilities



Provide tailored welfare rights, budgeting, and financial capability advice to tenants. Conduct financial health checks for new and existing tenants to assess affordability and support needs. Help tenants access appropriate benefits, including Universal Credit and Housing Benefit, and challenge decisions where required. Support applications for grants, trust funds, and other financial assistance. Promote financial inclusion and deliver targeted campaigns or workshops. Maintain accurate case records and manage your caseload effectively. Liaise with internal teams and external partners to coordinate support and referrals. Help prevent rent arrears and tenancy breakdown through proactive advice and early intervention.

What We're Looking For



Experience providing advice on welfare rights, benefits, budgeting, or debt management. Good understanding of welfare reform and financial inclusion principles. Ability to explain complex information clearly and with empathy. Strong organisational skills, able to manage competing priorities and deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport. Confident using IT systems and maintaining detailed case records. Flexible approach, able to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to work outside of standard office hours when required.

Desirable:



Knowledge of money advice techniques, including debt prioritisation and enforcement options. Experience working in housing, welfare, or community settings. A relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience.
