The Role



Directly reporting the Head of FP&A, the Assistant FP&A will support in delivering key financial insights and commercial analysis to drive business performance and strategic decision-making.

This role will assist and support business unit leaders and senior managers across all divisions, departments and functions through management and delivery of financial reporting and analysis.

This role is a key member of the TBW Finance team and supports multiple functional areas.

Commercial Support



Business Partnering with the sales and commercial teams to achieve the sales objectives

Monitors orders, pipeline, prospects, sales, profit, and cash against department and team targets on a weekly basis.

Collaborate with sales, marketing, and operational teams to gather data and insights to support weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial planning and forecasting activities. Constructively challenging negative trends and outcomes and utilising positive initiatives outcomes across TBW.

Actively contribute to weekly and monthly sales and commercial team meetings, highlighting performance insights and trends.

Maintaining and consolidating the current and new business pipeline to ensure for relevant updates

Analyse pricing and promotions, commercial initiatives and plans; challenge assumptions where necessary, and make recommendations to optimize profitability and commercial outcomes

Assist in providing ad-hoc decision support for the sales team, including analysis of trading agreements, sales proposals, and evaluation of profit and cash impacts.

Assist in the preparation and analysis of "what-if" scenarios and risk assessments to evaluate commercial opportunities, pricing, and promotional strategies.

Checking the compliance and completeness of new business cases with sales and commercial teams.

Drive scenario modelling and planning to support business strategies and targets forecasting

Support the sales and commercial teams by providing timely and insightful financial analysis to inform both short- and long-term business decisions, leveraging both internal and external data.

Liaise with other key internal stakeholders such as procurement (demand planning), operations, financial control, and SLT to ensure alignment and support for decision-making.

Budgets and Forecasts



Supports the annual operating plan as well as regular forecasts and management reporting against the plan

Deliver insight and analysis which helps the business to understand drivers and achieve strategic goals

Assist with the review and analysis of annual operating plan documents, ensuring accuracy, commercial viability, and alignment with business objectives

Implement improved processes, systems, and analytical tools to improve the quality of forecasts, budget, and financial analysis

Support key projects and capex reviews within the broader finance function

Month end



Support month-end reporting processes by preparing detailed financial analysis, commentary, and variance reports.

Review, produce and maintain trading sales, margin analysis, & profit & loss statements, helping to monitor commercial performance across each area, customers, solutions and products.

Develop and implement KPIs and metrics that support the business strategy and support the ongoing performance reviews between finance and senior management

Assist in preparation for monthly P&L review meetings with commercial team members, ensuring they understand their financial performance and key drivers.

Qualifications & Experience



Experience - Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Analytical Skills - Strong ability to analyse data using Microsoft Office, Excel, ERPs & Power BI is desirable.

Technical Aptitude - Part qualified CIMA or ACCA accountant with a drive to improve their technical knowledge (Study support available)

Minimum 2 years relevant work experience

Communication Skills - Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with key stakeholders.

Attention to detail - High level of accuracy and can identify discrepancies and inconsistencies and proactively work to resolve them.

Initiative - Has a proactive mindset and is always looking to improve process. Takes ownership and can work independently.

Teamwork - Can take a collaborative approach and contribute positively to the Commercial Finance Team offering feedback and supporting peers.
