Mobile Fire Alarm Engineer | CSS Environmental Ltd

CSS Environmental Ltd is a long established electrical and M&E contractor providing reliable engineering support across London and the South East. Since 2002, we've worked with a wide variety of clients from local offices, pubs, and universities to large hotel groups and multinational organisations. Our engineers operate year-round, delivering responsive, professional service and building strong, long-term client relationships.

Due to continued growth, we're now looking to add an experienced

Fire Alarm Engineer

to our mobile engineering team.

The Role

This is a mobile, field-based position covering London and the South East. You'll be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems across commercial sites, ensuring systems remain compliant, safe, and fully operational. The role offers variety, autonomy, and hands-on technical work for an engineer who takes pride in high standards.

Key Responsibilities

Servicing and maintaining a range of fire alarm systems Diagnosing faults and carrying out remedial works in line with compliance requirements Completing routine inspections and detailed service reports Taking part in the call-out rota (approximately 1 in 4) Providing a professional, customer-focused service on every site Keeping up to date with BS 5839 and current fire safety regulations

Skills & Experience Required

Proven experience as a Fire Alarm Engineer, either mobile or site-based Strong knowledge of fire detection systems, fault-finding, and commissioning Good working understanding of BS 5839 and associated standards Confident communicator with a practical, problem-solving approach Comfortable working independently across multiple sites Full UK driving licence

Qualifications

FIA (Fire Industry Association) BS 5839 modules (essential) 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (desirable) IPAF / PASMA for working at height (advantageous) Manufacturer training such as Advanced, Kentec, Morley, Gent, or Apollo (beneficial)
