to promote and maintain a positive fire safety culture across Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies. This is a key role ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation and best practice.
The post holder will promote a positive fire safety culture within the constabularies by supporting the development and implementation of fire safety systems and policies, providing relevant training, performing audits and inspections, undertaking risk assessments, reporting on fire and safety matters to relevant personnel and committees/boards, providing emergency attendance when required and supporting the continual improvement of fire safety arrangements and systems. The post holder will work across all premises, occupied and/or owned by the constabularies.
Main responsibilities of the role include:
Conduct fire risk assessments, audits, and inspections across all constabulary premises
Develop and implement fire safety policies, procedures, and training
Provide expert advice and guidance on fire safety matters
Investigate fire-related incidents and produce reports with recommendations
Liaise with internal teams and external enforcement agencies
Support continual improvement of fire safety systems and arrangements
It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:
NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management; or Institution of Fire Engineers qualification or equivalent such as NCRQ
Experience of providing fire safety advice and guidance in a large organisation(s)
Experience of developing fire safety policies, procedures and creation/delivery of training
Experience of fire safety audits, risk assessments and inspections
Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to retain a clear, professional approach
Keyboard skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and specialist software programmes
Ability to travel as required, mainly within Norfolk and Suffolk to fulfil requirements of role
Able to work in multi hazard environments
It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:
Member of the Institute of Fire Prevention Officers, or equivalent professional body
Firefighting / enforcement experience
Significant fire safety experience
