Fire Safety Manager Legal And Compliance London

London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

We offer an opportunity you simply won't find anywhere else. In less than six years, Mileway has grown into Europe's leader in last mile logistics real estate, with a 550-plus team across twenty six offices in eleven countries.
Are you a driven and ambitious fire safety professional, ready to take on a new role in a fast-moving international team?

We're looking for a fire safety specialist to help reduce property insurance claim costs across Mileway. You'll do this by working closely with customers and colleagues to improve how we identify and manage property-related risks.

Your work will be critical in protecting our properties and supporting our customers' operations, especially in relation to fire risks connected to emerging technologies such as lithium batteries, PV panels, electric vehicles, and more.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a fire service or fire safety background who's looking to transition into commercial real estate, insurance, and risk management.

The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, sound judgment, and the discipline to manage day-to-day activities, along with the ambition to grow within a dynamic and fast-scaling company that's leading the market in last mile real estate.

Working at Mileway

We offer a unique opportunity. In just five years, Mileway has become Europe's leader in last mile real estate, with a team of over 550 people and more than 20 offices across 11 countries.

Our culture is fast-paced and highly international, with team members from over 50 nationalities bringing diverse perspectives and a strong "can-do" mindset. While we've achieved a lot already, we're just getting started. Our mission is to be Europe's leading provider of last mile logistics real estate helping businesses thrive, driving sustainability forward, and shaping the cities of tomorrow.

To get there, we live by our values:

Drive, Trust, Grow, Together

.

We believe company growth comes from developing people. That's why we offer a robust in-house learning and development programme that supports personal, professional, and business growth -- empowering everyone to shape their own unique career path.

This role reports to the Head of Insurance and is hybrid, typically three days a week from our London office, with occasional travel to properties and offices across Europe.

We support a flexible working approach, enabled by state-of-the-art technology that keeps our teams connected wherever they are.

What you'll do

Support leasing teams in reviewing and managing property use changes that may introduce higher risks. Coordinate and communicate Mileway's risk control inspection programme with insurers and brokers. Manage insurer risk control reports and drive follow-up on key recommendations by collaborating with internal teams, customers, and insurers. Analyse insurance claims and loss events -- particularly fire-related -- to identify patterns and help prevent recurrence. Create and promote clear, practical standards and processes to reduce fire and other property risks, including training and awareness initiatives. Collaborate with construction and development teams to embed appropriate risk controls at the design stage and resolve issues in a practical way. Contribute to broader risk management efforts such as insurance renewals, health and safety projects, and business continuity planning.

What you'll bring

A formal qualification in fire safety (e.g. NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate or equivalent). At least 3 years of experience in a dedicated fire safety role, with exposure to warehousing and logistics property risks. Strong technical understanding of property risk controls, including fire protection systems, human factors, modern construction materials, and applicable fire codes. Proficiency in standard IT platforms and the ability to manage large data sets for analysis and reporting. A proactive and adaptable mindset, with a willingness to learn, collaborate, and contribute to a small, flexible team. A track record of building effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Strong influencing and communication skills to promote and embed fire risk management best practices. Self-motivation, initiative, and a results-oriented approach. Fluency in English; additional European language skills are a plus.

Our vision is to be the number one gateway to urban communities. To get there, we live our values: Drive, Trust, Grow, Together.
